The Farmhouse

Passion fruit vines cover the trellis.
Going organic. After our visit to Hermit's Cove, we headed directly to the Farmhouse to have our snacks which was part of the Bojo River Cruise package. Fare per person is Php50.00 for the habal-habal from the cove to the farm.

The Farmhouse is a small organic farm in Brgy. Poblacion, Aloguinsan, Cebu. They have a garden for some veggies and fruits, fruit trees around, pond with tilapias, vermicompost and even some livestock.

From river cruising and swimming plus the habal-habal rides, we really felt so hot under the sun. When you enter the gate, you will pass by the lovely green aisle (picture above) with grown passion fruits leading to the farmhouse.

Two locals from The Farmhouse welcomed us with their warm smiles. One lady brought a tray of welcome drinks and the other one with a tray of cold towels. Yes! COLD TOWELS. Isn't it so nice and thoughtful?
Cold Towels and Lemon Grass Juice upon arrival. Perfect!

Who would expect that they have it there...in a small farmhouse? We were just so grateful that a local community even thought about that. It's like a VIP welcome treatment in a resort. :-) Their guests would really feel the thoughtfulness from them since their tourist attractions really require a bit of travel and the main transportation is only riding a habal-habal if you don't have your own car.

We were allowed to change our clothes while waiting for the snacks to be served. We saw these collections for sale in their local shop.
They sell these native collection made by their locals. You can see frames at the upper right - those are paintings made by the children from the community
Close-up. A painting by a 10 year-old boy made up of crumpled tin foil and watercolor/paint.
After a quick stroll, we were advised to go inside the house for our merienda. They served classic Filipino snacks like Biko (sweet sticky rice), Pan Bisaya, Salvaro (native pastry), Boiled Bananas (nilung-ag na saging), Sweet Potato (camote), Nangka Kilawin (unripe jackfruit salad) and Ginisang Ginamos (sauteed salted-anchovies) as side dishes and Sikwate (hot chocolate drink made from tablea).

They were too quick to get some food. Obviously.

We really had a full stomach. It was a very delicious merienda. After pigging out, we rested for a while and then the short farm tour was done.

Overall, it was a great and fun trip. It's better to spend your day off away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Before we bid goodbye, here's our family portrait at the Farmhouse...este group shot. :-D
